Seeking Painters

Liu Bolin (The Invisible Man) seeks painters well versed in realism to work as artists assistants. Assistants will be helping Liu Bolin with a special collaboration similar to the artist's well know Hiding in the City series. Four days of painting, September 4 - 7. Project will take place at Klein Sun Gallery, 525 West 22nd Street, New York. Rate is $150 per day. Fluency in Mandarin Chinese is a plus. EFA STUDIO INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

DESCRIPTION:

The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts Studio Program is a juried membership program for professional visual artists. The program provides subsidized studio space for over 75 contemporary artists.

EFA Studio Program internships provide a unique opportunity to work directly with artists in their studios (as Artist Assistants) and actively contribute to the creation of exhibitions and programs, while gaining exposure to the inner-workings of a multi-faceted, non-profit arts space (as Administrative Interns). Each intern will split his/her time between assisting artists in their studios and working closely with EFA Studio Program staff in the offices.

EFA Studio Program is seeking enthusiastic and committed candidates who desire to learn about contemporary art and arts administration. Successful candidates will be amiable, adaptable, professional, social, and confident. Interns should be comfortable working as a member of a team—working well with direction, while feeling confident to provide his/her own insights. Along with handling the administrative tasks of the program, interns will consistently be working directly with contemporary artists. EFA Studio Program intern responsibilities during the spring will include:
- Acting as Artist Assistants to Studio Program artists
- Overseeing all social media platforms in collaboration with the Studio Program staff
- Hands-on planning and assistance for our biggest annual event - EFA Open Studios 2014
- Processing New Membership and Membership Renewal applications and paperwork
- Work on research projects involving artists, non-profits, and residency programs
- Communicating with artists about special events
- Interacting directly with our member artists.

Qualifications for all EFA Interns:
- Junior, Senior, or Graduate student with related major and/or interest in contemporary art
- Proficiency in Mac applications, Microsoft Office, and Adobe CS preferred
- Basic office skills (filing, phones, data entry)
- Ability to handle artwork
- Personal experience working on Facebook and Twitter
- Commitment of 2-4 days per week

Availability:
We are currently looking for FALL interns to begin in late August or early September and remain through December 2014.

Window Studio - Artist Residency

Window Studio of Bedford-Stuyvesant is seeking an emerging  to mid-career artist for their Artist-In-Residence program (AIR). The selected candidate will foster the mission of the organization while developing their own studio practice.

The Window Studio AIR is an intensive 6-month studio artist residency designed to immerse artists in their studio practice while sharing their process with the local community. Artists from all media are invited to apply. Four residencies, two held concurrently, are offered each year. Emerging artists living and working in the Bedford-Stuyvesant community are given preference but all New York City artists are welcome to apply.

Since an important component of the Window Studio AIR program is to interact with members of the community, applicants must be able to spend a minimum of 15 hours per week working in the studio. The artist will design and teach 1 weekend class and 1 weekday class per semester (2 classes total) There will be opportunities to teach additional workshops as well. The selected artist will receive unlimited studio access during the 6-month period as permitted by operating hours and monthly transportation stipend. The artist will have a culminating exhibition in the Window Studio Gallery. 

Window Studio AIR Eligibility:
The Window Studio AIR is ideal for emerging and mid-career artists working to develop their studio practice and career experience. Applicants cannot have an affiliation with any institution as a full or part-time student, fellow, or already be an artist-in-residence at another studio. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent MFA graduate.

Window Studio Hours of Operation Monday-Friday 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Saturday - Sunday: 11.00 am – 4:00 pm.

All applications must be submitted by 5:00 pm, Friday, August 29, 2014. All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application via email by Friday, September 12, 2014.

All application materials must be submitted via email. A website, temporary website or blog is required to complete the application. Window Studio will not accept image attachments. All images on submitted web pages should include image specifications such as media, titles, date and size. Attachments will not be accepted for other required application materials. Application materials
should be included in the body of the email.

Deadline: Submit all materials online before 5:00pm, Friday, August 29, 2014.
