Residency in Vienna, Austria

In co‐operation with KulturKontakt Austria, the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, the Arts and Culture will make available 50 residencies in Vienna for the year 2014.
 
The residencies are available for the following disciplines:
· Visual arts
· Art photography
· Video and media art
· Design
· Composition
· Literature and literary translation
· Contemporary dance and choreography

In addition, art educators and curators are also invited to apply.
The full prospectus is attached (English version begins on page 5). 
The residency is designed to offer an opportunity to familiarise oneself with the Austrian art and culture environment and to make contact with Austrian creative artists. Residents are expected to complete a project during their stay.
Length of stay varies as a function of the artistic discipline:
· Residency of 3 months for visual artists, art photographers, designers, composers, video and media artists
· Residency of 1‐2 months for writers and literary translators
· Residency of 2 months for contemporary dancers and choreographers
· Residency of 1 month for curators and art educators
 
General requirements
A (basic) command of the German and/or English language
Age limits
· 35 years of age max for the visual arts, art photography, design, video and media art
· 40 years of age max for literature, literary translation, composition, contemporary dance and choreography, art education and curators

Bryant Park Painter in Residence Program

The Bryant Park Corporation invites applicants to participate in the second annual Painter in Residence Program for the purpose of creating representational imagery of Bryant Park. The paintings will be visual record of Bryant Park from a painter's perspective. Four painters will be selected to paint outdoors in Bryant Park for a two week periods each as follows:

Program 1 – July 1 to July 14
Program 2 – July 15 to July 28
Program 3 – July 29 to August 11
Program 4 – August 12 to August 25


These paintings are commissioned by BPC and become the company's sole property.

Program Details:

Subject matter: Landscapes and iconic features of the park
Painting schedule: Daily (cancelled in case of rain; rescheduled with approval of Bryant Park program manager.)
Stipend: $1000 per week plus one-time supplemental fund of up to $1000 for materials. Amount for materials will be confirmed with receipts.
Application Deadline: May 31, 2013
Announcement of Award: June 21, 2013

Whole Foods - Graphic Artist

Whole Foods Market Upper West Side is seeking a creative, consistent and fastidious store graphic artist to be a part of the marketing team creating in-store signage and marketing material. Your role as a Store Graphic Artist/Signmaker will be to design and create graphics for promotions, store literature, and signage. You will ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.

Responsibilities & Qualifications:

Will Do
• Create all in-store signage by hand and using a computer including but not limited to: chalkboards, product and store signage, event flyers, posters, and calendars in a timely manner
• Print and laminate weekly and monthly specials support signs, regional and national sign and poster programs.
• Work with Marketing Team Leader and Store Team Leader, department Team Leaders, and Store Team Leaders to ensure all products and departments are properly and effectively signed.
• Learn and adhere to corporate style guidelines in all materials. Establish and/or maintain store graphic style within those guidelines.
• Ensure that signs are placed and removed at correct times.
• Work with décor team to report missing or broken décor and other permanent signage.
• Participate in regional training and work with Regional Graphics team on regional level projects.
• Duties do not include web, digital or product design.

Must Have/Be:
• Mac proficiency, specifically in design programs: Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator, Microsoft Excel, and Word. FileMaker and InDesign knowledge a plus.
• Strong artistic and creative skills, with ability to be precise and render effective signage. Strong hand-lettering skills and drawing ability.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities and ability to prioritize and change gears quickly under pressure.s
• Self-motivated, energetic, and enthusiastic!
• Superb communication skills and ability to manage and prioritize numerous requests.
• Able to remain detail-oriented in all aspects of your job including laminating, cutting and hanging of signs.
• Able to work a flexible schedule which may include weekends, nights and holidays.
• Able to convert constructive feedback into better work.
• Able to communicate, read and follow instructions in English.
• Able to work 8 to 10 hours per day. Able to sit, stand and or walk for extended periods of time, up to 4 hours, without a break. Able to bend/stoop to grasp/lift, objects not to exceed 50 lbs, unassisted.
• Art degree or some formal artistic training preferred
