New York Academy of Art/ West Nottingham Academy Artist Residency

Eric Fischl, the New York Academy of Art, and the West Nottingham Academy are pleased to announce an Artist Residency Program located on the beautiful campus of West Nottingham Academy near the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland. West Nottingham Academy was founded in 1744 and is a residential school for college-bound students with a strong emphasis on the arts.

Every year three artist/residents will be chosen exclusively from the alumni community of the New York Academy of Art to teach and create art on campus at the West Nottingham Academy. Each artist/resident will be present on campus for one term of the trimester (the fall, winter, or spring). Artist/residents will be given a private studio, an apartment in the Faculty Dormitory, three meals a day at the campus dining facility, access to a campus car as needed, an exhibition at the beginning of the residency, and the opportunity to present their work to the West Nottingham community in the form of an Artist Talk. Each artist/resident will also be given an $8,000 stipend to support their work and to cover any unforeseen expenses during the residency, generously provided by West Nottingham alumnus Eric Fischl.

Each artist/resident will be required to teach two forty-five minute classes five days a week for eight to ten weeks, depending on the term of the trimester. The syllabi for these classes will be designed by each artist/resident in consultation with West Nottingham faculty.

Interested alumni should submit five images of current work (72 dpi), a one-page artist statement describing your work, a one-page pedagogical statement outlining your approach to teaching, a current CV, the discipline you would be applying to teach and the trimester you would prefer to teach.

Deadline July 1, 2013
